To Joist Hangers Timber Masonry

To Joist Hangers Timber Masonry. Square Nail Holes Fix
Joist should be square cut and sit tight to the back of the hanger- the maximum gap permitted is 6mm. They must be fixed using 30mm x 3.75mm sheradized square twisted nails in all pre-punched holes. Hangers 150mm deep and over are manufactured 10mm less to allow for notching and regularisation of timber joists. Side flange is much higher than traditional style, providing greatly enhanced resistance to joist rotation. The hangers usually have at least two holes for each side of the joist, and they may have several holes for the nails to be driven into the ledger board or the intermediate beam.

A minimum of 675mm of cured masonry must be in position above the joist hanger flanges before any load is applied. Timber joists should be cut square and butt up to the back face of the hanger with a maximum allowed gap of 6mm.

Some of them have locators for easy fixing. That means that from the centre of one joist to the centre of the next there should be a distance of 400mm. Fix each joist hanger with the mark centred while at the same time making sure it is the appropriate distance from the top.

Sometimes the timber joist might be bit off the size and joist top might not face the ledger board or intermediate beams. No special tools or rivets are required.
