When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project. I wish we could post pictures of stuff we made. These processes produce roughly 93-99% pure iron oxides. A stable, weather resistant color is always the end result. Because of the inherent tinting strength of synthetic iron oxides, standard loadings do not exceed 8%. Levels greater than 8% will not enhance the finished color. Changes in cement will affect the final color. Concrete slump should not exceed 5″. Add color directly into the mixer with the other ingredients. Avoid using porous forming materials. The distance between insertions should be generally about 18″ depending on the concrete mix and vibrator used. Tilt-up concrete panels should be textured using sandblasting and surface retarders to expose the course aggregate. The same materials and methods should be used. The same color loading should be used on all repairs. Admixtures containing calcium chloride are not permitted. Independent laboratory testing shall be submitted if requested. The stamps must be clean of foreign matter prior to the stamping operation. Joint depths shall be maintained at ¼ of the slab(s) thickness. Transverse joints shall be constructed at right angles to the centerline of the sidewalk and longitudinal joints parallel to the centerline. Expansion joint filler shall extend to the full depth of the joint with its top surface ¼ – ½ inch below the finished surface. Apply a one (1) part muratic acid to 10 parts water to the surface and agitate the concrete with the side of a straw broom a minimum of 36 hours after placement.

This pigment contains iron blue which is unstable to alkaline and some salts. To lessen the speckling, mix well and do not over use. Then add amount desired to melted soap base. You have used too much color if your soap bubbles are not white. Doesn’t take much to produce a deep, beautiful color, so it’s very economical too! Finely milled so it doesn’t require much grinding for either mineral makeup or watercolor. Very little is needed for a great red color. Have fun testing and playing with them. Use a little for rosy hues or a lot for cranberry/maroon colors. I was looking for a lighter red color. A little goes a long way and had to mix with white. It was much better the second time around. I used less for fear of getting red lather and ended up with it any way. I add a drop or two of titanium dioxide and it gives me a very nice “lighter” color. To get more cranberry, use a little merlot mica. I have not noticed any bleeding into the other colors. Easy to use and a little goes a long way.
